WNBA All-Star, 2015 league MVP, and first time member of Team USA Elena Delle Donne is beyond special both on and off the court. Today, the 6’5 power forward for the Chicago Sky is in the news for personal reasons. Good for her!
What should be even more important for the world to understand is that she has been filled with love her entire life. Her love for her family, including her special needs older sister, kept her staying close to home by attending the University of Delaware when she could have gone to any major college. Her love of basketball has brought her to a point where she is arguably the best in the world. Her love of helping others fuels the camps she regularly holds to help young girls who aspire to be the next ED. Her understanding of her opportunities to help others led her to working with Nike to promote the creation of a laceless shoe for special needs individuals. Elena hosted the young man Matthew Walzer who submitted the idea to Nike at the 2015 All Star game and played the game in a pair of the shoes to help raise awareness. (Story Here)
